Viola is a beautiful and feminine, light sweater with a delicate stitch pattern, inspired by tiny violets. The circular yoke is simple and elegant, and it fits most women perfectly. This design is our take on a light and classic sweater that suits most climates through almost all seasons. The sweater features deep armholes and is slightly oversize with a positive ease of approx. 5-8 cm (2-3.5 inches). The sleeves are designed to be 3/4 length.

Here we knit Viola in our Everyday kit, which is a light combination of yarns, perfect for tops, T-shirts, and light sweaters. The everyday kit consists of Önling No 12, a light mix of wool and cotton, and Önling No 13, which is our accompanying thread in cashmere and super soft first-cut lambswool. Knitted together the two threads make up a fantastic combination, as No 13 gives No 12 a softer look, better texture, and firmer structure.

You can also knit Viola in our ultrasoft and luxurious Önling No 2 yarn, with which you'll get a light, yet snug and warm sweater, as No 2 is 100% pure merino wool. See kit in Önling No 2 here

Materials Everyday kit for Viola w ¾ sleeves

2 cones of Önling No 12 Everyday Yarn, 55% wool and 45% cotton, 750 m per 115 g

1 large cone (80)80(80)80(80)80(80) g Önling No 13, 95% first-cut lambswool and 5% Cashmere, 1600 m per 80 g

The sweater is worked all the way through with one strand of No. 12 and one strand of No. 13 held together.

Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows/rounds of stockinette stitch on needle(s) size 4 mm / US 6 = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches.

Recommended circular and double-pointed needles sizes 3.5 and 4 mm / US 4 and 6.

Directions: The sweater is worked in the round from the top down. Stitches are cast on using the provisional crochet caston method, allowing the size of the neck opening to be adjusted later. Short rows are worked at shoulders and back of the neck to make the neck opening higher at the back. The yoke is worked with increases and a pretty lace pattern inset. The piece is then divided into body and sleeves, which are finished separately.

Washing directions: The yarn Önling No 12 and No 13 has not been prewashed when you receive the cones. You get the best result by soaking the finished project in lukewarm water for about 2 hours. Then wash the project as you would otherwise do using a wool wash, either by hand or using the wool cycle of your washing machine. Dry flat.
