The original artist of this copperplate engraving remains anonymous, but the artwork itself speaks volumes about its historical and artistic significance. The Battle of Štěrbohol, also known as the Battle of Prague, took place on May 6, 1757. This dramatic clash between the Prussian forces, led by King Frederick the Great, and the Austrian army under Prince Charles of Lorraine, was a defining moment in the Seven Years' War. The map captures the strategic maneuvers, troop movements, and the challenging terrains that shaped the outcome of this battle, contributing to Prussia's rising military reputation in Europe.

Not only does the map detail the intricate military actions, but it also provides a rich depiction of the topography surrounding Prague. The fortified city and its sparse internal structures are illustrated with precision, emphasizing their strategic importance. Additionally, notable landmarks such as the Invalid House and a prominent homestead are marked, which would have been critical for military logistics.

This detailed map also highlights the presence of three pontoon bridges in the Podbaba region, crucial for troop movements and strategic advantages. Outside Prague's walls, the map carefully notes individual villages, giving viewers a sense of the wider landscape in which this significant battle occurred.

This exquisite art print makes a perfect gift for history enthusiasts, art lovers, or anyone with a keen interest in European military history. Ideal for occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving, or housewarming, this print will add a touch of historic elegance to any space.
